Komaru Kotsu foundation gift to the library

On 13 October, a delegation from Fukuyama Transporting, led by the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Japan Shigehiro Komaru, visited the University. The delegation was accompanied by the Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania Tetsu Ozaki, the Ambassador of Lithuania to Japan Dr. Aurelijus Zykas, Professor Emeritus of the University of Hiroshima and Chairman and Vice-Rector of the Fukuyama City University Council Dr. Toshiyuki Sato and other distinguished guests.

The Komaru Kotsu Foundation’s book giving has become annual tradition. The Foundation has already donated about 800 books to the library. The donated books enrich the library’s Asian Book Space, contribute to the information provision of the East Asian Culture and Language Study Program and encourage students to take interest in Japanese studies at Vytautas Magnus University. These books will soon be available not only to the university community, but also to all interested parties.

Today, the Asian Book Space contains over 5,000 books in Japanese, over 1,500 books on Japan in English, and over 500 books on Japan in other languages.
