In academic papers, statements that exactly reproduce the ideas of other authors must be quoted. Statements by other authors can also be rephrased, i.e. paraphrased or interpreted in their own words, but the author of the source (book, internet source, article, etc.) must be indicated in such cases. It is a violation of academic integrity to use another author’s original ideas or thoughts in your work without acknowledging the source.
