Vocational education and training journals have been published in all the countries of West Europe. In Lithuania, it is the first publication of this kind. Increasing world integration of science and activity has been the main factor that caused scientists and politicians to devote more attention to vocational education and training which aims at responding to complicated questions raised by contemporary society.
This journal has appeared as the result of a long-term co-operation between the Centre for Vocational Education and training at Vytautas Magnus University and many countries from West Europe, firstly, Hohenheim University, Germany. Therefore, a number of vocational education and training scientists from foreign countries are the members of the editorial board of the Journal. One of the major dispositions of the journal is to open wide perspectives for international scientific discussion. All scientific articles are printed in mother tongue of the author with the extensive summary in one of the EU country languages.
The journal will not limit itself to scientific discussions. In the vocational education and training column the reader will find presentations of the newest publications - books, monographs, textbooks, descriptions of the research findings, reviews, statistical material, information about the experience and innovations in vocational education and training in other countries. The thematic range is expected to satisfy everyone who is interested in vocational education and training.
We expect that the broad and open scientific discussion will initiate important and timely decision-makings in vocational education and training policy and will guarantee rapid change in the Lithuanian VET system. We have great expectations that ideas of scientists from various countries, their theoretical dispositions and practical experience, published in the Journal, will facilitate the development of creative initiative of all vocational education and training participants in Lithuania and other countries of Europe. Scientific journal "Vocational Education: Research and Reality" is a periodical publication published twice a year.
