CATALOGS HELP

Request books from the library
Members of Vytautas Magnus University community are privileged users. They can request documents from the Library catalogue.
How to make this request depends on:
  • where the book is located (open shelves or in closed stacks)
  • the status of the document (available or out on loan)
The most common request situations are described below: If the book is in closed stacks or out on loan you can make a hold request (reservation) in order to obtain the book.
Request a book that is available or that is on loan
  • Search the catalogue for the necessary book and open the Full view of the Record giving you all the information about the document;
  • Click All items to open the Holdings screen giving you all the information about the items;
  • Check if the Due date field is empty;
    • if empty, it means that book is available now;
    • if there is a date in this field the book is out on loan (it means that book is not available now). You can make a reservation  and when the item is returned to the library it will be reserved for you;
  • Click request, if the request option presents; if request is missing, user can not request books, that are available on open shelves (in the reading room);
  • If you have not signed in (as privileged user) yet, you have to do it now; enter your user and password information, click Go;
  • The Hold request screen appears. Check the Sub-Library (location) information of the book
  • Click Go to confirm your request;
  • Your hold request is now registered.
You will receive a notification as soon as the item can be picked up at the location you specified. You can view your hold request information by clicking on the option User Account.
